RTV Silicone in a Pressure Can

Previous

Kind of like automotive Cheez-Whiz.  I use a brand called McKanica, but there are lots of companies selling the stuff now.  Contrary to popular beleif, there are very few manufacturers of RTV silicone.  Most brands are simply re-packaged to take advantage of name recognition.

As opposed to the traditional squeeze tube, these new aerosol cans have finger-triggers that allows easy application of the stuff, plus a clever valve that keeps the goop from hardening inside the package, a common problem with the old tubes.

Concerning RTV silicone in general, the gray and black compositions are really the same stuff, differing only in color. Use whatever color looks best to you.  The red is for high-temp applications, and the “Ultra” formulations have copper in them for heat transfer.  The clear is more of a convenient adhesive than a sealant.
