I have pulled the top forward by another 1/4”. I had to trim a little bit more from the scalloped edge, so as not to leave an additional wrinkle where it passes over the weld.

Notice that I am using an original flanged finish washer rather than a common finishing washer with a sharp edge. The flange spreads the load and grips the top material more evenly. I have seen regular finish washers punch nice little circles out of the material due to all their pressure being applied by their thin, sharp lip.

And, no, this customer did not want me to restore his bows. He didn’t want a “show" car, just a “dry" car.
